The Alcea rosea Ficifolia 'Simplex' , or hollyhock, is basically a biennial (or short-lived perennial) with large single flowers with a mixture of pink and red flowers. It flowers from July to October in the 2nd year. Its striking leaves resemble those of a fig tree. Perfect for cottage gardens, along fences or walls, where it adds height and colour. The plant grows to 180-240 cm tall.
