Anthyllis vulneraria , better known as woundwort, is a special and versatile perennial plant that stands out with its clusters of bright yellow to orange flowers. The flower heads have a soft, almost velvety appearance and bloom on slender stems above a grey-green, hairy leaf. The name 'woundwort' refers to the traditional medicinal uses of the plant, in which it was used to heal wounds and reduce inflammation. Woundwort is a valuable plant for natural gardens, wildflower meadows and bee-friendly borders. It attracts many pollinators, including bees and butterflies, and plays an important role as a food plant for some caterpillars. In addition, it is an excellent ground cover and contributes to soil improvement by fixing nitrogen in the soil. Due to its graceful appearance and long flowering period, it is also suitable as an ornamental plant in cottage and rock gardens.

Sow woundwort in early spring (March-April) or late summer (August-September) directly in the desired location. The seeds germinate best in a well-drained soil and require a cold period for optimum germination. Press lightly and keep moist until the seedlings appear.

Anthyllis vulneraria thrives best in a sunny spot in poor, chalky and well-drained soil. It is very drought-tolerant and grows well in sandy or stony soils. It flowers from May to August and can self-seed under favourable conditions, spreading naturally in the garden.

Woundwort is native to Europe, North Africa and West Asia and often grows in grasslands, dunes and mountainous areas. It is naturally adapted to poor conditions, making it ideal for biodiversity projects and ecological gardens.
