Digitalis ferruginea is a stately biennial or (short-lived) perennial with dense flower spikes full of rust-coloured flowers on 160cm long stems, which give a special look to any wild garden. The small flowers attract many bees. Flowers from June to August. Leave the faded flowers to form seeds.
Sowing can be done directly in the open ground from May or pre-sowing in April.
Originally from Southern Europe, this foxglove thrives in sunny to semi-shaded locations with well-drained soil.
