Eschscholzia californica 'Purple Gleam', or better known as California Poppies, are small poppies with gray, fern-like leaves that remain decorative for a long time even without flowers. The original Californian poppy is orange, but this variety has semi-double purple-pink flowers that open in sunlight and close in shade or evening. Blooms from June to September.
Sow directly in the open ground from April to June. They sow themselves year after year in the garden, often before winter
Native to California, this plant grows best in dry, sunny spots in well-drained, poor, dry soil.
