Impatiens balsamina , balsam, is back from the dead, family of the giant 'Emerald Balsam'. This species will also sow itself like the previous one, but moderately. The plants flower richly and for a very long time, the flowers appear from the bottom up, and tolerate shade well. Planted in the sun, they must be watered in time.
Impatiens balsamina 'Camellia flowered mixed', offers striking flowers in pink, white, red and purple that bloom from June to September. This plant grows quickly and self-seeds easily, which makes for a playful, colorful effect.
Sow early in warm March, but break dormancy by alternating heat and cold or directly outside from May.
Native to Southeast Asia, it grows best in partial shade in moist, nutritious soil.
