Nicandra physalodes , the still little known 'herb of victory' is a large, sturdy plant, flowering continuously from July with large, blue bell-shaped flowers, after which the typical dark green tinted 'lanterns' appear, which are particularly useful for autumn arrangements.
Sow from March to May indoors or directly outdoors. It will then sow itself easily, making it very suitable for natural gardens
Nicandra, native to Peru, grows well in sunny spots with well-drained soil.
