Phlomis Russeliana, or Jerusalem Sageis a perennial that covers the soil well with its grey-green heart-shaped leaves. The long flower stalks that grow up to 1m00 tall have a bulb on several tiers on which numerous butter-yellow 2-lobed flowers emerge. It is a fragr ant plant but is not really used as an herb As a cut flower or dried flower, it does give a special effect to bouquets. It also produces a lot of nectar so bees, bumblebees and butterflies love to visit this plant.
The spent flower stems retain their beautiful silhouette throughout the winter. Cut away these spent flower stalks in March.
It is native to Turkey-Syria. It copes well with heat and drought and likes full sun, but semi-shade is also possible. Otherwise, it needs no special attention.
