Wonderboom
Ricinus
'Blue Giant'
The Ricinus communis , or castor oil plant, is a tropical plant with large, deeply incised leaves and grows in one season with fist-thick stems, all clearly tinted blue-grey, but must certainly overwinter warmly. It produces attractive clusters of fruit, but be careful: all parts of the plant are poisonous. 'Blue Giant' is a very large Castor oil plant, probably belonging to the 'Zanzibariensis' family.
Ideal as a solitary plant in the garden or in large pots. Its exotic appearance makes it a popular choice for tropical gardens.
Sow indoors in early spring. Soak seeds in water for 24 hours before sowing. Plant seedlings outdoors after the last frost.
This plant likes a sunny, sheltered spot with rich, well-drained soil. It grows quickly and can reach a height of 2-3 metres in one season.
Ricinus communis is native to East Africa and the Middle East and is cultivated worldwide as an ornamental and oil plant.
Add an exotic touch to your garden with the wonder tree. Its dramatic leaves and fast growth make it a real eye-catcher!
