The Tagetes patula , or large African marigold, is a botanical (?) species, found in the Linnaeus garden in Upsala (Sweden), not resembling the modern cultivars with thick flowers on short stems. These are tall plants with rather small flowers in a warm orange-red hue. As cut flowers they are unsurpassed and in combination with other border plants (also in semi-shade) they look very natural.
Suitable for borders, pots and vegetable gardens.
Sow indoors in early spring or directly outdoors after the last frost.
