Basella rubra (Ceylon spinach or Malabar Spinach)

Basella rubra is also known as Malabar spinach and Ceylon spinach and in tropical Asia it is commonly eaten as a leaf vegetable. In our climate it is a beautiful climber. The stems and leafs are red-brownish. 

Sow : in greenhouse (gentle heat) in March, plant out in the greenhouse or outside in a sheltered corner.
