Calendula officinalis ‘Neon’ immediately stands out with its intensely bright orange, almost glowing flowers, sturdy petals, and fresh green, lightly aromatic foliage. Originally from the Mediterranean region, calendula has been valued for centuries as both an ornamental and a useful plant. The finely chopped petals add a lightly sweet note to salads and can be used fresh or dried in soups, and are sometimes added as a natural colouring. Medicinally, calendula is known for its soothing and anti‑inflammatory properties: used as an ointment for scrapes and burns, as a tea for digestive discomfort and menstrual pain, and as a tincture to support the gallbladder, stomach, and liver. 

In addition, it is a valuable butterfly plant, with caterpillars feeding on its leaves.
