Tropaeolum majus ‘Crimson Emperor’ is a vigorous nasturtium with deep velvety red flowers that contrast beautifully with its round, fresh green foliage. The plant has a loose, lightly trailing growth habit, giving borders and containers a playful, informal look. Originally from South America, this species is valued not only for its ornamental appeal: both the flowers and leaves are edible and have a mildly peppery flavour. The seeds are also edible and, once pickled, can be used like capers.
